This is the first of many blog posts for Beat Paramedics, and really we just want to introduce our organisation, and let you know what we're setting out to do in the marketplace
Beat Paramedics is a recruitment organisation specialising in connecting highly skilled paramedics with unique and interesting positions across Australasia, and the world. Beat Paramedics is owned by Leonie Shepstone, and Shaun Hughston, who have a high level of experience recruiting and managing medical and health staff across the world. Before starting Beat Medical, Shaun was previously a manager at a large international healthcare organisation, specialising in recruiting and liaising between paramedics and clients in the energy, mining and infrastructure sector.
Using the success and systems from the Beat Medical recruitment organisation, we are now putting a new focus on helping paramedics explore new career possibilities, either as a complete shift in work, or just for a short term change in routine.
We can help you translate your skills as a experienced road or air ambulance paramedic into exciting and fascinating careers on oil rigs, vessels, military exercises, training roles, and more. Along the way, we offer an extremely high level of service - allowing you to focus on what you do best, and letting you enjoy the adventure.
The type of work we offer is generally very well paid, and can range from full time work, to short term jobs, to fly-in-fly-out positions. Often, accommodation, travel expenses, and incidentals are met by our clients.
It's not always easy work- long hours, difficult customers, bad weather (sea sickness!), limited resources, lots of time on planes/travel, and you are often responsible for many lives with large medical facilities, support, and other medical staff hours away. Some of the paramedics our team have worked with over the years have experienced scenarios ranging from:
-cyclones at sea in North West WA
-nasty open fractures on oil rigs, with minimal morphine and a 3 hour return heli ride
-renal colic in the bush, requiring heli evac
-sea snakes in the Coral Sea
-gastro outbreaks on large vessels
-armed rebels in PNG
If the sound of this excites you - you should pick up the phone and call 1800 633 505 now! We'd be happy to help you find your next adventure.
